Family Centered Hospice

“In the last stages of a final illness, we need only the absence of pain and the presence of family.”
-Helen Hayes

Hospice is a special kind of care intended to meet the unique needs of individuals entering the final stages of a terminal illness. The staff of Family Centered Hospice is passionate about life and we wish for our patients to cherish every moment that life affords them. We seek to relieve suffering, alleviate symptoms, and improve the quality of life for both our patients and their families by addressing their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. Family Centered Hospice has an experienced, interdisciplinary team that can assist in these three areas.

Physical Support

In the final stages of a terminal illness, our focus is to give our patients as much comfort in their lives as possible. This includes relieving them of household and daily burdens as well as working to alleviate painful symptoms of their illness. We provide support so that our patients can remain at home, surrounded by their loved ones and a familiar environment, for as long as possible. It is our goal that our patients be unhindered and free to live life to its fullest.

Emotional Support

This can be a stressful time for families as they deal with many of the issues associated with an illness in the family such as caregiving, balancing job and family, guilt, and fear of the unknown. These stressors can often interfere with the ability of the patient and family to enjoy life and relationships to the fullest extent possible. Our staff is specially trained to provide emotional support and guidance during these difficult times.

Spiritual Support

People face many questions and uncertainties when nearing the end of their life. Finding meaning, purpose, and hope while honoring and valuing life are some of the common challenges. Our interfaith chaplains provide sensitive spiritual guidance so our patients and their families can cope with these challenges with respect, dignity, and peace.
